February Seasonal Foods

While it’s still chilly here in Texas. There are quite a few things in season and ready to grace your plate from salads to hot meals to breakfast. Here are just a few of the fun flavors in season:

  • Beets
    • Try the nellie’s pickled beets in a cup
    • Roast them in the oven and puree with chickpeas to DIY hummus
  • Turnips
    • Shave it in your next salad
    • Cut them into fries and bake
  • Broccoli
    • Roast these on 450 with olive oil, salt and pepper for 15-20 minutes
    • Cook however you like and sprinkle with parmesan cheese
  • Lemons
    • Zest it on anything & everything
    • Juice it on anything & everything
  • Oranges
    • Marinade with rosemary and chicken thighs
    • Slice and put in hot water with a squeeze of honey, cinnamon stick and star anise
  • Grapefruit
    • Squeeze on top of salmon after cooking
    • slice it on top of salads
