Holiday Side Dish Shortcuts
Let’s not fool ourselves here shall we? Holiday meals are A LOT of work and no matter the “hack” or “shortcut” there is still time associated with it. Preparing the bird is one of the most quintessential parts of this festive day and most of the attention is on basting and not over cooking it. So with that being said, let’s love up on those side dishes and make them easier for the big day! Here are a few freezer friendly ideas…
Side: Root Veggie Blend
2 packages Tommy’s Root Vegetable Blend
Elevate it: garnish with parsley and blue cheese
TIME: 8 minutes
Side: Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes
2 packages Green Giant Cauliflower Mashed potatoes
Elevate it: Garnish with parsley and cracked black pepper
TIME: 25 minutes
Side: Butternut Squash
2 packages Stahlbush Island Farms Butternut Squash
Cook at 350 degrees for 20 minutes
Elevate it: garnish with Parmesan cheese and parsley
TIME: 25 minutes
Side: Green Beans
2 packages Signature Farms Green Beans
Elevate it: garnish with toasted slivered almonds
TIME: 8 minutes
Side: Carrots
2 packages Signature Farms Carrots
Elevate it: drizzle of maple syrup, a dash of cinnamon and pomegranate seeds
TIME: 8 minutes
Side: Espinaca
1 package Signature Farms spinach
1 package Fresh Cut peppers and onions
1 package Signature Farms corn
Cooked down in a pot
Add 1 Tbsp granulated garlic, 1 tsp cumin, 2 Tbsp chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, ½ cup Monterey jack cheese, 1 5.3 oz greek yogurt and mix thoroughly
TIME: 15 minutes
Side: Shiitake Mushrooms
2 bags frozen Shiitake mushrooms
Cook at 350 degrees for 15 minutes
Add ½ Tbsp. dried garlic powder, 1 tsp. Thyme
Elevate it: garnish with parsley
TIME: 8 minutes
Dessert: Large Pumpkin Pie
Using a cookie cutter, hollow out individual portions. add to a dessert dish and dollop with whipped cream
TIME: 10 minutes
