National Cheesesteak Day

Philly Cheesesteaks might get the health halo award but we’re here to add more nutrition to the classic and watch your budget with a few freezer finds. This easy weeknight dinner just requires a little forethought to make sure you set out the items ahead of time for a quick pull together dinner the night of.

A couple of things that are unique with this take on a cheesesteak is that there are more veggies. Mushrooms are a great way to add bulk to your meat since they have umami flavor and chewy texture. The peppers add bulk and some good vitamin C content to help better bind the iron from the meat to increase nutritional value. 

What You Need

1, 12oz pkg Frozen Quick Steak

1 pkg Signature Kitchen Frozen Peppers and onions, thawed

3, 8oz pkgs, Signature Kitchen Mushrooms

4 oz, Cheese of Choice (american cheese, goat cheese, brie, etc – something creamy or melty)

1 tsp. Salt

½ Tbsp. Pepper

1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder

4 Bakery Hoagie Rolls

 How It’s Made:

  1. In a medium pan, sweat out the peppers and onions
  2. Roughly chop the mushrooms
  3. Add them to the pan and sweat down
  4. Create a clear space in the middle of the pan and cook steak according to the package directions
  5. Mix ingredients all together and enjoy
