Produce That Helps You Stay Hydrated

Summer produce is all the rage right now and for delicious reasons! Not only is it at peak flavor perfection but there are so many additional benefits to consuming the recommended 5-9 servings. So let’s dive on into the benefits!

  1. Serving Size: a serving of fruit is ½ cup and you should be striving to get 2-4 a day. A serving of vegetables is ½ cup cooked or 1 cup raw and you should be striving for 3-5, at base minimum
  2. Consuming the recommended 64oz of water daily can be a challenge for some but spicing it up a little produce can add the pizzaz of flavor and a treat at the end
  3. Fiber! Fruits and vegetables are not only great for their water content but also their fiber content. The recommended amount for a female is 25g and a male is 38g per day. If you are interested in keeping track there are great apps out there like MyFitnessPal
  4. Highest foods in water volume are: Watermelon, Strawberries, Cantaloupe, Peaches, Oranges, Cucumbers, Lettuce, Zucchini, Celery, Tomatoes, Bell Peppers, and Grapefruit
